10 Minute Medicine

10 Minute Medicine

Quick Class Details

Please read all disclosures and policies before signing up and attending a class.

Class Description

The “platinum 10 minutes” place a time constraint on the pre-hospital care of seriously injured patients. The first 10 minutes after a life threatening injury can be the most critical. Cajun Arms feels it is imperative to offer a lifesaving course for their students and members of NCCSC. Ten Minute Medicine is an absolute must for anyone serious about their own safety and the safety of others, whether they shoot or not. The first time you use medical gear should not be in a real world scenario; get trained on proper equipment and its application. This course will prepare you to deploy lifesaving measures for yourself and others until the ambulance arrives.
Topics covered:

  • Recognize the causes of preventable death and be able to treat victims of penetrating trauma.
  • Learn basic human anatomy and the signs and symptoms of shock.
  • Emergency stress reduction techniques and communication with 911.
  • Wound ballistics on the human body from various weapon types.
  • Hands on training with the use of tourniquets, chest seals, bandages, hemostatic agents, and airway management techniques.
  • Learn various emergency lifts and carry techniques.
  • Realistic scenarios, testing the ability to rapidly assess victims for life-threatening injuries, and the application of first aid devices in a stressful environment.
  • Review first aid kits and IFAK kits available to the public.

Who Should Be Trained?
EVERYONE! Severe bleeding injuries can result from natural and man-made disasters and from everyday accidents, as well as from catastrophic and terrorist incidents. If left unmanaged, it can kill within minutes, potentially before trained responders can arrive. Bystanders who have been provided with basic tools and information on the simple steps they can take in an emergency situation to stop life-threatening bleeding can SAVE LIVES!
Research has shown that bystanders – even with very little medical training – can become heroic lifesavers. Similar to the success of CPR or the use of an AED, improving public awareness about how to stop severe bleeding and expanding both personal and public access to bleeding control kits can be the difference between life and death for an injured person.

Who Can Take This Course?
EVERYONE! Learning to control bleeding is an essential skill that anyone can apply to save lives, just like CPR. In particular, these skills are important for non-tactical law enforcement, firefighters, security personnel, emergency coordinators, and teachers. In addition, we recommend that all workplaces, schools, and churches have multiple employees/members trained in bleeding control.

Tuition Deposit Policy

We typically fill our classes and turn students away as the class date nears. Be sure you can attend the class date for which you sign up. Should you become unable to attend a class, you can use your deposit for another class offered within one year of the original class date provided you give at least 72 hour notice to us. We will subtract any upfront costs we incur such as class materials from the deposit. Cancellations shorter than 72 hours and no shows forfeit their deposit. Thank you. NO REFUNDS.

Home-built Gun Policy

We do not allow the use of 80% home built firearms in our classes such as “Polymer 80” pistols and “80” lower” rifles or pistols. A general rule of thumb: if it does not have a serial number, do not bring it.

These guns have proven to be unreliable in class.

If you bring one to class, and do not have a back-up, or there is not a rental gun available, you will need to leave the class. No refund is given. Thank you for your cooperation.

Rental Equipment Policy

FIREARM RENTALS
You can rent firearms for your desired class including pistols, rifles, and more. Ask in advanced please.

AMMO PURCHASE
When renting weapons, ammo must be purchased from Cajun to ensure only quality ammo goes through our guns.
